Union Lido Campsite | Finding Luxury, Comfort & Family Fun in Venice

Score 90%

Union Lido was the first 5-star camping village in Italy, located near Venice. It is the ultimate family place to stay with a water park of over 10,000m2. Imagine lagoons, waterslides and wave pool in a aquaparc surrounded by the whitest of sands. Not only this but Union Lido also has its own amusement park, beach and easy transport links to Venice.

A new star was born in the camping world over a decade ago: The fifth star! Luxury campsites could be set apart for the quality of their facilities, location & accommodation… So having seen other Leading Campings sites including La Marina (Spain), Turiscampo (Portugal) & Camping Krk Resort (Croatia). We were excited to discover just what made Union Lidothe first ever Italian ‘5 star’ Campsite, as we drove from Croatia to Italy, and the stunning location of Venice.

Our European Roadtrip has been focused on finding new family-friendly attractions, experiences and adventures as we live & road school our girls across Europe. But every once in a while, we find amazing campsites like Union Lido which seems to have everything on site. Allowing those precious times when parents and children have each other all to themselves with acres of fun filled opportunities before you. Spacious grassy pitches run down to the sandy beaches of the Adriatic whilst there’s even a shopping village and adventure park with your very own rollercoaster and log flume ride!! And it’s reasonably priced for all this village life’ – prices here
This really is the complete 5-star camping village complete with a water park of over 10,000m2 in size, you won’t want to leave…. or perhaps more importantly the kids won’t want to leave!! Imagine lagoons, waterslides and wave pool in a aquaparc surrounded by the whitest of sands  – sounds too good to be true? We’ll let you make up your own mind by checking out a few clips from thevideo above

Waterfun at this types of places should be for everyone, that’s important to Union Lido. Daredevils can enjoy themselves with the Vortex or Jungle Wave Pools while the little ones can enjoy a quieter time in the other areas of the heated aqua park. Full of easily accessibly slides, a lazy river and plenty of lifeguards keeping watch… Safe ‘water-based’ family fun is always a great way to start a holiday isn’t it?

But there’s also something a little quieter to escape the crowds in the aquaparc…. the W10 building houses a simple yet refined ‘Spa & Wellness Centrethat offers a heated pool, plenty of massaging jets and even some sun loungers to catch the warm weather of the Adriatic.

But our bet, is that you won’t move too far from the aquaparc for the first few days of any break here… especially if you have energetic kids that seem to have permanent smiles on their faces due to the endless hours of free entertainment available in the pool area. But if you do then, the beach side restaurants, nature walks, play areas on the private beach will easily pass another day…. And don’t forget, you’re staying next to one of the world’s most famous, iconic cities in Venice (known as the ‘Queen of the Adriatic, City of Masks & City of Bridges’)

In truth, for most families who will visit here, there’s probably that quiet sense of satisfaction, that they know what they’re likely to expect before they arrive. So if you’re heading down to Italy for a long awaited summer holiday break, perhaps away from France, Spain or Portugal… we reckon Union Lido is a great choice with the confidence that those guys at Leading Campings feel the same too! (If you haven’t already, its worth checking this site out for the very best 4-star or 5-star campsites you can find across Europe)

The ability to ‘ down tools, stop and not leave the campsite’ is made even more possible by the shopping on site…, From fantastic supermarkets to local producers you’ll have all the food covered without having to bring half of it down with you! (our tip – try the strawberries freshly picked that day from the fields nearby – blissful!) So that’s catering sorted, think relaxing BBQ’s with fresh meat and vegetables, followed by Italian Gelatos!

But for those with money to spend and with children who love browsing shops… you’ll even find the latest pair of havaianas here… or even the latest eco friendly Audi! But it’s also got opticians and other useful shops just in case you loose your contact lens or sit on your sunglasses!!!

As for evening entertainment, there’s some brilliantly useful ‘INFODESKS’ situated across the campsite to find out whats going on each day or evening… During this stay, but we hope to return again, we’ve seen live music in the evening, visited the adventure park and even taken a swing at the ‘mini golf’…

With all that on offer, we’ve sadly not made it to any of the restaurants as both girls have fallen soundly asleep before 8pm…. perhaps thats a good thing for our budget (see what it has cost us to do a European Roadtrip here) but for others who visit this summer, there’s plenty of choice but don’t forget to ‘gem’ up on all the words you might need – see here

Finally a little bit about the staff, from what we’ve seen this week, you’re guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome. Whether you’re camping, touring or staying in a luxury mobile home, nothing’s too much trouble for the staff. They’ve not skimped on levels of staffing per guests (even though its late April) and it’s made our girls fall in love with this place… just check out the pictures below of Lottie’s smile or Libby running from the beach to our pitch… it’s hard to imagine a campsite village can get any better!
