Ever tried the Ultimate Croatian Buggy Safari? You’ll love every second!

Considered a great hiking country you’ll find plenty of opportunities in Croatia whilst others might prefer to sail the archipelago of the Kornati islands National Park. But have you ever considered a Buggy Safari?

They say you should visit Croatia in late spring or the end of summer to explore the inland National Park of Krka ,the Velebit mountain range but especially to visit one of it’s many islands such as Korčula.  But have you ever considered a Buggy Safari? No? Well, nor had we until we until we chanced upon Buggy Croatia’s fantastic ‘adventure tour’ at Vransko Jezero, Biograd. So if you fancy a day filled with views of emerald lakes, azure blue seas, islands galore and a little adrenalin filled fun… then read on!

Is it too intensive for either kids or older adults? Well, we’ve covered that base, as we’ve brought the girl’s grandparents along for the ride… but have no fear, they’d soon sped off into the distance to screams of excitement and much laughter! So with them sorted, our thoughts turned to the girls. Would they be happy with the speeds, safety gear in the buggy and the terrain? After the first corner, we’d resolved most of those worries, with both girls grinning with delight (and no sign of white knuckles either!) Perhaps it was that Bobsleigh we took the girls down in Lillehammer, Norway almost a year ago to the day!

It was as promised, an unforgettable experience on our buggy tour of Biograd & Lake Vrana by the enthusiastic guides (Robert & Daniel).

A chance to travel along a variety of terrains on some of the more beautiful  rocky slopes of Lake Vrana whilst admiring the gorgeous landscape and discovering a little more about Croatia’s rich cultural history… all in 3-4hrs! Plenty to see for adults and kids alike… it sounded fun! And all for a reasonable 1200-1600kn depending on the length of buggy safari! (but there are cheaper options too!)

We’re also keenly aware that a healthy respect for safety is of paramount importance, but equally we hope we’ve embraced challenges (see our Family Adventures Page) rather than being scared to challenge ourselves, So when we read ‘Buggy Safari’s’ motto of ‘Fast enough to be Fun, Slow enough to be Safe‘ we were more than happy to discover a different perspective by buggy… A chance to smell the fresh herbs as you hurtle down a rocky track, or enjoy that surge of excitement as you plough through fields full of long grass towards the lake shore!

Discover Unlimited Beauty

In truth, it’s hard not to fall immediately in love with Biograd and its surroundings, as you stand overlooking the Kornati Islands from the viewpoint at Kamenjak… The vista that awaits is simply staggering and perhaps only bettered by Geirangerfjord in Norway… It’s a feast for the senses! Brilliant sunshine only enhances the view, but there’s also history in the form of the small chapel that sits astride the entrance… The Kamenjak is the chapel of All Saints built in 1995 above the 57-meter deep pit in which, during and after the Second World War, the Yugoslav anti-fascists and the Partisans cast lively Croats.

The Perfect Family Adventure

It’s true that it will test your forearms, and you’ll certainly know you’ve enjoyed the experience with the Arctic Cat ‘all terrain buggy’… but it really is possible for everyone… A chance to circumnavigate Lake Vrana, enjoy a history lesson enroute and even catch a glimpse of the famed wildlife that is abundant on the lake (including Purple Heron, Little Egret or the Leopard Snake). It’s been a fabulous experience that we’d happily repeat again given half the chance, and as for the grandparents, they’re keen too!!! An activity near Zadar for the whole family to enjoy!
