A Treasure Hunt, Snorkelling & Birthday Extravaganza in Trogir

If you’ve never heard ofTrogir… we’d go as far as to say it’s one of the best ‘hidden gems’ of the Mediterranean… It’s UNESCO recognised as a world heritage site and sits on its own island. With bridges linking it to both the mainland and the smaller island of Čiovo which includes our stopover destination at Camping Rozac.

We’d been hugely fortunate to get the chance to spend time with another travelling family (the Banks Family) who we’d met earlier this year in Seville… and who were going to spend a few days with us… including celebrating Libby’s 9th Birthday… To say both girls were excited was an understatement!
Trogir’s shimmering collection of orange/red tiled rooves reminded us of the sight from Dubrovnik’s city walls, and in fairness there’s some real similarities between both places. It’s a real mixture of traditional stone buildings, tiny alleyways, beautiful harbourside walkways and perhaps one of Croatia’s most well preserved city centres…. not to mention the impressive cathedral… all on one small ‘city island’. We’d been so impressed on our last visit, that we’d tried a new aspect to our road schooling by trying to make our own treasure hunt around Trogir…. so with the Banks Family joining us, we thought we’d give it a try… So two mixed teams set off to try and finish the 12 question treasure hunt in 45mins!! If you’re looking for a few tips on ‘Things to See’ in Trogir… then perhaps you should start by grabbing  a coffee on the ‘River’ and get your bearings overlooking the harbourside…. Perhaps head towards the Kamerlengo Fortress, Loggia & Clock Tower…. but just don’t miss the land gate which is a fantastic piece of craftsmanship!

Thankfully the treasure hunt worked and we’ve found it a useful way to energise  city visits with kids (Find more of our 50+ European Cities Visits here)

Every region should have Something special

But it wasn’t just a day of treading on well worn Roman Marble slabs of pavement… we also had some impromptu snorkelling to fit in….. retrieving a frisbee from the depths of the bay but also enjoying the crystal clear waters and fish at Camping Rozac.
And last but not least, we’d celebrated Libby’s 8th Birthday in Dubrovnik last year on a fantastic ‘3 Island Boat Cruise‘…. but this year Libby just wanted to spend some time with her new friends and just enjoy her birthday presents!!! Before we head southwards to discover more about Split.

With the sun setting on a great few days in Trogir…. there’s nothing left but to add that final group pic of the kids with their new T-shirts and the two Silver Adria Matrix parked up beside each other at Camping Rozac! New Friends!

After some busy days either in the water parks, enjoying the beach or playing in the sports centre… each evening has been spent enjoying a quiet drink on the sun terrace overlooking the pools……as the girls check out the entertainment schedule for the following day.

Whether you’re camping, touring or staying in one of their luxury mobile homes… it’s the perfect place to enjoy one of Spain’s most beautiful campsites and we’d happily return in a heartbeat! It’s been a great start to our adventures northwards towards France.
