Three Countries in one Day

Three Countries in one Day

Ok, so perhaps not our biggest amount in a day… but hey, three’s (Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia) not bad is it?? We reckon we’ve only beaten that once – on the first day of our  Leg 3 down to the Adriatic.

Today’s trip started in Hungary this morning at Tranquil Pines….and then onto the truly stunning Lake Balaton… if you’ve never been, it really is one of those idyllic lakeside locations… plenty of campsites and a lake that’s permanently warm in the summer and only 3m deep! The ideal place to grab a watersports adventure with kids.
Travelling south from Hungary, we passed through Northern Croatia and the capital Zagreb towards the Adriatic…. desperate to find more Croatian Adventures to add to ourSea Kayaking in Dubrovnik or a visit to thestunning national park at Krka.
But with the light fading, we headed towards Novo Mesto (where we visited the Adria Factory) and the small but beautiful village of Vinica. Complete with a fortress overlooking the Croatian:Slovenian border post… it really must have been a tough place to live in the Balkan conflicts of the 1990’s….

But it has a simple, yet effective aire for a nights stay (8 euros) beside a wood mill… Having loved Slovenia when we visited last year, it gave us a taste of what we will hopefully see again later this year… but Croatia awaits tomorrow and hopefully some island hopping….
