Sicily to Croatia by Motorhome | A Double Ferry Day

After yesterday’s excitement… it was a day of extensive travelling today…..A 515km day of driving over 9hrs!!! Firstly, from Taormina to Messina and a ferry across the straits of Messina to Reggio… then a climb up through the hills of Campania towards the ‘heel’ of Italy…
Thankfully we managed to take someone’s advice and grabbed 2 hours in Pollino National Park, meeting a wonderful couple from Colorado… great chance to chat and we hope they keep in touch…Then a sprint towards Bari, up the fantastic A14 at fully 130kph and a quick dive into the ferry terminal at Bari… with nothing booked it was on a wing and a prayer (although we had been aiming for this ferry since the inception of the trip….) Thankfully there was space so we grabbed the ticket and ran onto the ferry with a couple of hours to spare… so typing this at 9pm sitting in the ferry bound for Dubrovnik… we gasped a collective sigh of relief..
Was the extra day in Sicily worth it…. yep you bet it was, we loved spending time with Kirsten, Kevin and the wonderfully well behaved 2yr old Jemima… keep following their blog too, they headed off to Syracuse today… lets hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!!!
