Both girls had a truly fantastic day, not only due to the stunning white water rafting but also due to the people they met. Including all the guides and a fantastic Norwegian outdoor adventure organisation (DNT) who brought 20 children on a ‘TRY IT’ 2 day package around Voss.

For a family company with 20 years experience, they ought to know what works… but they did that and more… a real attention to detail, great safety processes and guides with bundles of character making it a fun experience for everyone (Thanks Guys – especially Martin, Mat (2), Jack and Ninja/Julian).

Home to the Ekstremsport16, they’re certainly blessed with the surroundings, the snow capped mountains simply tower above you as only glacial valleys can, whilst the river generates huge white water due to the meltwater coming down after winter…  the river is currently being populated with salmon in an effort to regenerate fishing but despite a few attempts to find out what was under the water (!?!) we never saw any!!!

Every campsite should have Something special

Our team consisted of two fantastic young ladies from DNT and our family with Lottie/Libby assigned pace setting duties at the front!! Martin (guide) was in top form and pretty much led the other 3 rafts from the very start… pausing briefly for some balance games (yep, I’m afraid to say he won, I lost and tasted the icy cold water as a prize! brrrr!!!). With a drone (courtesy of VossActive) buzzing overhead much to the girls excitement to record the journey, we headed into the first of the Grade 2-3 rapids…. with a soaking to be proud of and a giggling Libby paddling as if her life depended on it… it was a great start…

This only improved through the next 5km of the trip, with perhaps the highlight a serious drop over a ledge into a cauldron of bubbles below…..  Far too soon, it was over as we paddled to the side for a collection by the numerous minibuses…. but not before a decent swim to shore in the icy cold water!

Hot drinks and biscuits awaited the girls as we helped lift the raft onto the trailers…. and headed back to the superb VossActive HQ…. a great setup with climbing wall, restaurant and meeting rooms, hot tubs and saunas… With both girls ready to go, we chatted again with Leiv (brilliant VossActive staff member) who invited us to use the hot tubs…. as we entered the tubs it was clear that we had reached the zenith of hot tubs experiences with a view to die for! Even watching the sky to see one of the instructors (Jack) who had dumped his gear and gone paragliding within 30mins of cleaning up after our drop off… the whole operation is that slick!! from collection of suits to return, we couldn’t fault a thing!!

Would we return? Yes 110% it was that good we may well return just for that! Were we (or more importantly the girls) safe? Yes at all times, we genuinely never felt concerned for their safety. Was it value for money? 100%, we’d happily have paid more as they simply couldn’t do enough to make the experience memorable for each of us
