Product Review | Gaslow Refillable Gas LPG Review
When most people think of motorhoming they instinctively imagine idyllic summer camping but imagine getting more from your motorhome by using it in the winter months too. So what would you need? Well decent heating naturally, hence why the Gaslow Refillable Gas system has made the single big difference to our entire European Roadtrip. And here’s why…
Not too many weeks go by with out people contacting us with this question:-
“What’s been the biggest positive you’ve added to your motorhome to make a full time European Roadtrip possible?”
An interesting and thought provoking question as we sat in the warm, comfortable Adria motorhome whilst completing the JOGLE roadtrip (John O’Groats to Lands End.) So with steaming mugs of coffee sitting on the table, whilst both girls happily played cards on their beds… we didn’t wait long to answer, it simply had to be ambient heating and plentiful supply of hot water from the new Truma & Gaslow system.
“IS IT WORTH THE INITIAL OUTLAY OR IS IT A GIMMICK….SHOULD I JUST TRY AND REFILL MY CALORGAS”
OEveryone’s different, but for us, the Gaslow system had been on our minds following the gas fiasco that saw us chasing through Spain in search of Calor Gas replacement… A futile effort and one not to be repeated!
So the sight of gleaming stainless steel tubes perched upon the bright yellow 11kg Gaslow cylinder were a welcome site when we collected our new Adria motorhome from Geoff Cox Leisure. Importantly, the R67 conforming cylinder includes a ‘multivalve’ that ensures safety is prioritised and stops overfilling.
So safe, secure and well manufactured, the Gaslow system’s initial outlay may seem expensive yet there is something deeply pleasing about the ease of refilling the cylinder at a petrol station. All for less than a £10 note! The system may costs the price of a decent ferry to Dieppe yet will probably pay for itself within 20 refills.
“WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE SYSTEM TO OTHER FELLOW MOTORHOMERS….???”
We can only speak from our experience but we would unreservedly recommend this system. Experiences that include a sub zero (-12 degrees at times) journey from the northern tip of the UK, yet the system performed without a glitch with no need to replace bottles! But perhaps we will ought to reserve judgement, the most recent journey lasted only 30 days and so the system is still in its infancy in our van.
But one thing is certain, we simply wouldn’t be without it, and can’t wait to explore Europe. Free from concerns over refilling bottles due to our pan-European adapters (safely stowed in the Adria garage)
