Scotland is famous, and rightly so, for its stunning scenery. Huge numbers of motorhomers head for the dramatic and varied landscape. Lochs, rugged coastlines, mountains and castles are all laid out for you to enjoy. With so much to take in, we find you need to make the most of your time. Although we've now spent over 700+ days living in our motorhome, we're slowly working out that carefully planning a roadtrip always seems to allow you more time to drink in as much of the atmosphere as possible......
So on this Scottish Adventure, we've tried to pick out a handful of the most beautiful scenic drives in Scotland (like the Glenshee Snow Route or the Argyll Coastal Route),. Learning quickly just why Scotland gets compared to Norway. Another of our favourite 'motorhome friendly' countries from across Europe.
But if you're looking for the ideal Scottish motorhoming location. One that allows you to stop off every so often, just to drink it all in... then we'd heavily recommend heading for Loch Ness. The road running north from Perth (A9) is an absolute show-stopper. Crammed full of virtually uninterrupted views of some of Scotland's most picturesque sites.
On reaching Inverness and heading west along the lochside road. It's hard not to be impressed by the glassy black surface of Loch Ness. With its shimmering reflections of the towering mountains above.
Comfortable and well located. It's a campsite with nature at it's core. Full of beautiful wooden buildings that house impressive facilities. Meaning Loch Ness Shores has pretty much everything you'd need for a perfect Highlands motorhoming/camping break.
But if you have the time, it's also worth planning a trip westawards. You'll travel through some of the most magnificent scenery in Europe. Wild mountains and lochs, foaming salmon rivers, rugged coastlines with mighty sea cliffs and secluded sandy bays. We can't wait to try it tomorrow!!
But today's focus is on spending time together as a family - dog walking along the shores of Loch Ness and finding time to help Libby with her new found interest in drone videography. Almost all of our recent footage has been solely down to her. Which is great to see especially having seen the benefits of Lottie's growing passion for photography (as seen in our May Giveaway Competition)
But as you'll know from their bobleighing, sea kayaking or climbing adventures, they're active kids too and active families will love the array of outdoor adventures available on this site. But there's plenty more to explore within a short driving distance including Urquhart Castle or the charming towns and villages of Fort Augustus, Cannich and Drumnadrochit.
Just like one of our other favourites at Camping Krk in Croatia, this campsite is well worth a place in our 'Top 50 Campsites Across Europe' and we'd head back in a heartbeat..... (now where's our travel schedule for the summer...!)!
