Eidfjord nails the kayaking today..... just a shame we had to gift a GoPro to the Norse water gods...
Only accessible by spiral tunnels or ferries! In our case it was the tunnels, a truly amazing site to see a full roundabout within a tunnel... these Norwegians know a thing or two about bridge building.... We were amazed to find ourselves in a world record holding 24km tunnel north of Flam... just amazing! But equally amazing to hear this was broken just 2 days ago by a Swiss tunnel... one to try!!!
Met by Björn our guide from Flat Earth, we were blown away by the early morning convectional fog drifting aimlessly across the fjord... a hugely atmospheric start! Joining a group of great people, we headed out across the serene 'non motorised' fjord on some superb kayaks... I say that as we have adopted kayaking as our family favourites across this trip and loved our recent trip to sea kayak in Dubrovnik.... so it's great to compare these experiences!
I think Norwegian Vikings had a 'water god' called Njörður... but either way, he obviously took a liking to our GoPro and grabbed it out of our kayak.... the cheeky tyke! So with the Go Pro potentially consigned to the dark depths of the fjord, we grabbed another chance in the afternoon to head out again and search for the 'elusive' orange GoPro float. Sadly we proved unlucky and the fjord claimed another victim... lets hope we can grab another one as we've loved using it on family trips like our Voss Tree Top Adventure or Flam Mountain bike ride... tomorrow should see us head onto Flat Earth's climbing wall... both girls can't wait for the sun to set and rise again!!
