For those that have never explored the amazingly varied Dalmatian Coastline in Croatia... You'll never forget that moment that you crest the hills that line the Adriatic near Rijeka... to be met with that dazzlingly alluring blue of the Adriatic Sea.... Even after seeing it numerous times during the course of our two year European Roadtrip, we're still in awe of that first glimpse of the crystal clear waters of the island of Krk! So where better to stay than at Camping Resort Krk.
Our previous visits to Camping Adriatic's 5-star campsite have been enjoyed so much, it just seemed the perfect place to take the girl's grandparents so they could share the experience with us. But this time we thought we'd add to our growing 'WaterSports Adventures' by taking everyone snorkelling in those crystal clear blue waters that NASA have endorsed as one of the 'clearest, bluest' waters in the world (see here)
Everyone knows about the growing glitz and glamour that goes with destinations. famed for their 'Game of Thrones' filming locations i.e Dubrovnik.. But push on a little outside of these areas and you'll turn up 'gems' such as Korčula or Krk.... These off the 'beaten tracks' destinations also have the added benefit of almost deserted 'coves and bays' that have provided the perfect opportunity to grab another family adventure... Snorkelling!
With everyone involved and snorkelling amongst the impressively clear waters, it soon became a case of either dodging the underwater life or the town's tourist submarine!!! ...But it just shows you're never too old to learn something new... with both grandparents loving the chance to float freely amongst the warm currents, swimming alongside shoals of brightly coloured fish.
It's really not hard to see why Croatia is becoming the 'new' must-go destination in Europe (see here) when you wake up to pitches with this view at Camping Krk... but there's also the beautiful old town to stroll across to enjoy a late afternoon ice cream too!!
With the sunning setting on Krk, casting its colourful shadows across the old town's city walls... and the sound of traditional Croatian music echoing in our ears.... It's easy to see us returning back again... but surely we can't visit in April, May & June!!!???
