It's been an eye opening view into another side of European culture for our girls. Full of new adventures with plenty of new friends met along the way. It's been full of 'wide eyed' stares at the poverty witnessed in Poland or Hungary, yet these are often the places with the warmest of local people... We've seen the impressive canals of Venice, climbed the steep cliffs of Split and been staggered by the beauty in Budapest, Vienna or Prague.
Ok, so perhaps not our biggest amount in a day... but hey, three's not bad is it?? We reckon we've only beaten that once - on the first day of our Leg 3 down to the Adriatic.
Today's trip started in Hungary this morning at Tranquil Pines....and then onto the truly stunning Lake Balaton... if you've never been, it really is one of those idyllic lakeside locations... plenty of campsites and a lake that's permanently warm in the summer and only 3m deep! The ideal place to grab a watersports adventure with kids
Having seen what Budapest has to offer, we wanted to slow down our travels to grab a slice of the real 'Hungary'...Heading into the countryside away from all the hustle and bustle.... to a place of genuine calm and quiet... at Tranquil Pines.
At the heart of the ancient city of Budapest are some truly amazing sites like the Buda Castle, Imperial Palace or Houses of Parliament. Yet dig a little deeper with your kids and you might find history under your feet or along the snaking passages of the Danube that divides the city centre. But although it's history is inescapable, Budapest is now a vibrant, modern city that certainly rivals what we've seen this week in Prague, Vienna or Bratislava.
