We love to help families find their own adventures, and summer is the perfect time to get the family together for an adventure that everyone can enjoy. With the summer holidays just around the corner, everyone is gearing up for a season of family camping! But if you’re still looking for last-minute inspiration?

Just imagine a holiday spent jumping into the toddler friendly indoor splash park for yet another swim with the kids or mild evenings enjoying this sociable campsite with friends whilst the kids enjoy numerous animations/shows on offer for all ages. With so many great places for activities and adventure, Holland is the perfect place for a family camping holiday to keep the kids occupied! And nowhere seems to offer more for kids than the multi award winning Camping de Paal (click here for more).

Situated close to the Belgium border near the city of Eindhoven, Camping de Paal is well located to explore further afield too. Historic cities like Dusseldorf or Ghent are within touching distance by car/motorhome. However even in early-summer, you can walk five minutes from the site and find yourself in a secluded spot that could be miles from anyone. Full of pine trees for shade… you could be a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

But perhaps the most alluring reasons to visit Camping De Paal is the family feel. It’s steeped in family life: the present owner is the second generation of his family to run the business. He also has children of his own, so he understands the needs of families and this comes across in the careful design of the campsite. It’s a big site with well over 450 pitches alongside a host of facilities that include a full size children’s theater, mini playgrounds, restaurant, petting zoo, BMX tracks, sports fields, subtropical water playground and a sandy 40000m² playground oasis.

But the joy of this site is the overwhelming feeling of safety. Children play happily alone in well laid out central campsite areas that look inwards promoting a shared sense or feeling of community… Even in the short space of time we’ve stayed, both girls made new friends and happily played all across the campsite together…… perhaps that’s another reason why it’s been voted the ‘Best Campsite for Children in Europe – 2018‘ and is one of Europe’s Leading Campings sites.

Small attentions to detail matter when you’ve only got a short time for a holiday… such as the small steps to allow toddlers to reach up to the top of the reception desks…. or the child friendly and useful campsite app… or even the fact that they don’t bombard the main playgrounds with ice cream sellers and have a giant restaurant terrace to oversee the kids playing…

It all helps to reduce ‘pester power’ and allows for a very relaxed feel to the overall campsite… the pace of life just seems to slow each day…  all in an idyllic setting amongst pine forests and birdsong….. the perfect recipe for some well earned rest and relaxation!!

Every campsite should have Something special

We’ve been fortunate to see some of Europe’s best campsites over the past 2 years, and each have had something to remember them by. For instance, Tiroler Zugspitze’s Cable Car or Camping Krk Resort’s ‘infinity pool’ takes some beating…. not to mention Aufenfeld’s panoramic ‘natural alpine lake’ …. But for Camping de Paal, you have to look no further than it’s child centred facilities like the toddlers water slides / splash park, daily animation programme and the incomparable sand oasis playground

Just watch the video at the top of the page (or to the right) and you’ll see for yourself just how impressive this is…

Forgot something? Don’t worry the facilities are fantastic

On the surface of it, the quality of the campsite facilities and shops aren’t huge factors in a choice of campsite. Most opt for fantastic views or amazing water parks instead… but we reckon having great facilities just seems to make any stay go that little easier… Especially when you consider the quality of their supermarket, on site bakery, excellent wifi, affordable takeaway…. plus their shower blocks are some of best we’ve used over the past year on the road (including those colourful disco lights!)

You can certainly see it would be easy to spend a week or longer soaking up the joys of this campsite. The campsite facilities are impeccably clean, the staff couldn’t be more friendly and each pitch is set in nice gladed locations amongst the trees…

If you’ve got active toddlers or older children like ours, and wonder will there be enough to entertain them? Fear not, as there are plenty of superb sport facilities (tennis courts, multi activity courts, playgrounds, sand playgrounds and biking trails…..) In fact they’re even available at dusk so your kids can ’empty their tanks’ like ours did during our stay….

Every family is different but we hope others find their way to this campsite as we’ve made some special memories together here. … it’s been the perfect place to enjoy one of Holland’s most child friendly campsite (see their ANWB award here) and we’d happily return in a heartbeat! It’s been a great end to our adventures through Holland and Germany.
