Love Spending Time as a Family? Why not take the Grandparents to Bluestone Resort in Wales

Score 88%

If you love ‘Free Range Fun’ then you’ll find everything you need in the well designed resort set in over 500 acres of Pembrokeshire‘s finest countryside. But once you’ve exhausted the array of opportunities within the resort, don’t forget that it also lies within easy reach of the amazing beaches of Barafundle Bay, Broadhaven South or Freshwater West!

SHaving already visited in February (read our full article here)… we couldn’t wait to return with the wider family on a ‘3 Generation’ (3G) Holiday. As we mentioned on our last visit to the national park resort of Bluestone Wales…  we just couldn’t wait too get back to one of its 350 individual timber clad lodges that offer so. much space to relax and enjoy family fun…

so what’s it like to stay in their lodges?

Put simply, they’re brilliantly well designed and incredibly comfortable after busy days inside or outside the resort! Having previously stayed in a Skomer Lodge, we’ve been upgraded to the spacious ‘Pembroke Lodge‘ as we’ve taken the grandparents to spend some quality time together and hear just what they think about this resort…. This time, we’ve added more to the break and grabbed buggies to help with access across the site and eaten out in the Farmhouse restaurant to celebrate a  major birthday! Both were a great success and are well recommended if you have bigger parties visiting the resort.

Evenings have been spent enjoying board games together, whilst the days have been busier than ever… with trips down to the beautiful bluebell woods on the nature trail… or heading out to find more adventures across Pembrokeshire. It’s been an ideal chance to reconnect as we’ve spent so much time apart over the past 2 years on this European Roadtrip Adventure!

So whilst the grandparents teamed up together to visit local highlights like Tenby’s seaside delights or St David’s Cathedral… they’ve also loved visiting local gardens at Picton Castle or trips to beaches like National Trust hidden gems such as Broadhaven South (see right)… Sometimes it’s been possible to join them, but both girls have been equally desperate to get out and keep adding to our ‘European Family Adventures‘. So we though we’d explore just what is on offer in Pembrokeshire for active families with energetic young kids….

I‘m sure it is in young girl’s genes to love horses and ours are no exception… But since we’ve been away this has grown into something of a passion for both girls. So as we’re staying at Bluestone Wales, we’ve relented and given into the pressure and taken up the chance of a ride through Pembrokeshire‘s beautiful bluebell woods with the nearby Marros Riding School.
They say that Surfing is becoming a popular sport for all ages… including kids!!! But surely there can’t be too many better places to learn to surf than on the vast Pembrokeshire beach of Newgale. So with the sun shining on a brilliant May afternoon, with Road Schooling finished for the day, we headed off to discover just what we could find in Pembrokeshire with Preseli Ventures.
You only have to look at the stunning scenery in the video to the left to understand just how special the location was for our first experience of climbing in Pembrokeshire. We’d loved seeing this coastline on our first visit to Pembrokeshire and could see the potential for adventurous, family fun…  so what could Climb Pembroke offer?
Does your family love getting active too? If so, Bluestone Wales itself is full of opportunities for family fun at all ages… perhaps the place to start with toddlers would be the Adventure Centre with it’s indoor climbing, mini golf and adventure playground. But for those who love getting outdoors!! Your kids will love the Sky Wire… flinging themselves off the 200ft zip wires with beaming smiles covering their faces!!

Want to get the most out of your visit?  Here’s some hidden gems we discovered..

If you missed our last visit to Pembrokeshire (see article here), we found plenty to keep any family occupied for at least a midweek break, but here’s a few more tips to give you a few hidden gems that we loved discovering with the grandparents too…
