So why do we keep returning to Kaysersberg in the Alsace?

So why do we keep returning to Kaysersberg in the Alsace?

With our adventures in Pembrokeshire now almost a distant memory (it’s amazing what difference a week makes...). We’ve headed back into Europe taking the girl’s grandparents with us! Our ‘Taste of France‘ adventure last year with them was so much fun… they’ve decided to throw their hats back in the ring….

But this time it won’t be kayaking on the Dordogne or visiting Ile de Re…. this time we’re heading much further south to Croatia, Italy, Austria, Slovenia & Switzerland. So where better to start this adventure than the beautiful Alsatian town of Kaysersberg.!
Leaving sunny Dover in the early evening, we’ve headed to the motorhome aire at Gravelines (see here for GPS details) before starting a frantic dash south… Why? Well time is limited as this leg is only scheduled for 30 days & 30 nights!!! So with 2,000+ miles to cover… each journey is likely to be a big one!! (see here for our previous journeys in Europe)
The journey from Gravelines to Kaysersberg is roughly 6hr 35mins if you head via Reims or it can be a little cheaper to go via Belgium + Luxembourg (no tolls required) but takes an hour longer… But the ‘motorhome aire’ nestled close to the town’s centre is one of our favourites! Surrounded by rolling vineyards or colourful houses… it’s a great place to spend an evening before heading into Switzerland. Plenty of relaxed informal places to eat of drink or do a little window shopping… and more importantly two boulangeries for tomorrow’s croissants!!!

It’ll be an early start tomorrow as we aim to drive across Switzerland, after a break in Lucerne, heading for Piani di Clodia on the shores of Lake Garda…. So another 6hr+ day in the saddle tomorrow!

Kaysersberg

so where did we park the bus for the night?
