Where to start!!!!

Following a frighteningly early start, we ventured into Gibraltar by 8.30am…. the quick snack at the Golden Arches outside was necessary and worryingly nice..

After a quick jump across the airport runway (v cool!) and we negotiated a tour of the island with a great guide who took us pretty much everywhere…

We took in the Herculean Pillars, a view of Africa which seemed only a stones throw away…. then upwards towards the caves at St Michael’s – full of light displays, stunning rock formations and a soundtrack too…. Then onto the Apes Den…. a cache to see wild monkeys and perhaps even to allow one onto your head!!!

Following that the piece de resistance, we reached the top and took in the 360 degree view of Africa, Spain, the Straits of Gibraltar and Gibraltar itself… sheer beauty!!!!

After this, we ventured into the military caves that protected Gibraltar since before the Napoleonic wars and then down via the Moorish palace….

We were kindly dropped into Ocean Village, with its cruise ship of a casino!!! and waited for our dolphin trip (whilst enjoying more tapas!). The trip surpassed all expectations and was a once in a lifetime experience… full of ‘oohs and ash’ and dolphins almost everywhere we looked – playful, show offs, fun and magical! A great experience.

Not sure how we could beat this we headed into main street, this was madness!!! A street that resembled any British high street as they sought to put on their Christmas displays…. all in 20 degree temperatures!!!

After some shopping (oops) we headed back over the run away with a monkey in tow (toy!!!) around Libby’s neck….

A wonderful day!!!
