Getting Active at Camping Šimuni….

Getting Active at Camping Šimuni….

Set on a sloping hillside draped in pines, we’ve been lucky enough to find Camping Šimuni on the Croatian island of Pag. Our spacious pitch offers a shady, secluded spot with spectacular views across the Adriatic Sea.

All no more than a few metres from the wide sweeping expanse of beach. What’s more the campsite appears to offers extensive facilities, including aqua parks, playgrounds and even it’s own impressive stage for live music (although we may be a month too early for all that!) … and both girls are desperate to return and join their ‘Summer Sports Camp for Kids’
But as ever on a roadtrip, there’s the good and the bad?? In this case we’ll start with the bad….. 3 weeks of accumulated washing that was soon rectified by the genuinely impressive laundry facilities… soon our washing (sheets included!) was hanging out to dry in the gentle breeze that  accompanied the unseasonably high 25°C temperatures! Plus some much needed washing of the motorhome roof after parking under plenty of trees recently!!
On the good side, it gave us all a chance to unwind and get active again…. head out to discover more of the island, find time to bike to the nearby fishing village of Šimuni and to have fun with  our snorkelling gear…. a real favourite for all of us in the van as you can see by these videos.
Sadly the air temperature didn’t quite match the water temperature but we did at least manage to see a few fish and an assortment of sea urchins! What made the snorkelling even better was the clear, calm water… the visibility was as good as anything else we’ve seen in Europe on our WaterSports Adventures .
Having checked out the brochure, the place looks an amazing place in high season with inflatable aqua parks a favourite page for the girls… but next time we visit, we’d also like to try and climb Pag’s highest peak (St Vitus)…
If we’re honest, we’ve just fallen in love with these Croatian Islands… they more than match anything we’ve previously seen in Greece and at half the price too! If you are thinking about a visit, we’d recommend you take a look at this article  as these islands are all so different.. but for us, we’ll always remember some great times on both Krk and Pag!
So with the sun setting on yet another busy day, we enjoyed another BBQ with a ‘table with a view’…before settling down early ready for a new adventure tomorrow at Krka National Park. A place we’d loved when we visited last year!
