FINISHED – Journey completed as we reach Lands End

After a fun filled 20 days of adventure, we pulled into the Lands End car park with a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happy that we had managed to both enjoy and finish such a special journey that mixed great scenery with opportunities to share it with families and friends. But also some sadness that we are now moving to adventures further afield, after falling in love again with the unique British landscapes that we have seen.
Highlights have included the iconic start and finishes for the journey, the remoteness of the western isles of Scotland. The variety of historical sites such as those at Culloden Moor and Hadrian’s Wall have been in direct contrast to the vibrancy of Edinburgh or even Sandbanks. We’ve enjoyed the outdoors, walking one deserted beaches in Scotland, bike rides in the Cairngorms or even snowboarding at Glencoe. But sometimes the tranquility of smaller sites has been equally special including visits to Loch Ness, the Scottish Borders or Burghley House in Stamford.
With over 1375 miles completed in just over 39hrs of driving… it’s been a short, sharp reminder of what a special place Britain is… (and we didn’t even make it across to Ireland!)
But thoughts now turn to the next leg of our adventure after the Caravan / Motorhome Show at the NEC Birmingham on the 23rd February…. Italy, Germany and perhaps Slovenia await…. the planning starts now!
