Enjoying a ‘Multigenerational’ Gite Holiday in Charente-Maritime…

Having spent so much of the past year on the road, this summer has given us a perfect opportunity to spend some time with the girls grandparents.. Having travelled south from Clisson, we’ve arrived in our favourite part of France – the Charente Maritime

The Charente Maritime is full of spectacular vineyards for its renowned drink the Pineau de Charentes, Cognac or the northern Bordeaux wines…. Sunflowers adorn each and every roadside giving brilliant colour everywhere… whilst spectacular villages provide wonderful chances for both girls to practice their growing French vocabulary and photography skills.
Situated just outside Mortagne sur Gironde (another with a great motorhome aire thats well worth a visit), we sit overlooking the Gironde estuary with plenty to see and do…… medieval fetes at Pons, historic UNESCO citadels at Blaye or simply grabbing the bikes and heading out along the miles of quiet seaside roads… Whilst nearby Royan offers family activities like ‘Zoo de Palmyre’ or ’Jardins du Monde’ alongside coastlines  and hidden beaches perfect for body boarding
It’s been a brilliant chance to relax and enjoy all the benefits of ‘multi generational’ holidays… something we’ve done in France and Wales for years and hope to continue for many more… both girls love every minute they can spend with their grandparents… so we’re doubly lucky that we get this ‘gite holiday’ before coming back here again in September to share in my parent’s first ‘overseas’ motorhome holiday…
