So What’s an Escape Room? Well, Dubrovnik’s got a new attraction for 2017. An interactive ‘Game of Thrones’ based game where participants are locked inside a themed room to crack codes, solve puzzles and engineer an escape within 60 minutes.

Having visited Dubrovnik earlier in our 500+ day ‘European Roadtrip Adventure‘, we fallen in love with this stunning, historic walled city towards the very south of Croatia…. A place of infinite historical importance, it’s been battled over for years and yet still has a resilience and thriving heartbeat that simply draws you in for yet another visit!
So for all you ‘Game of Thrones’ fans… you’ll love the chance to kayak from the ‘Kings Landing‘ under the ‘Red Fort’ or take a tour of the city walls to learn more about the history…. but sometimes it’s good to challenge yourself and try some problem solving!
Especially as we’re road schooling our way across Europe…. these kind of opportunities are like gold dust as they enrich the curriculum and offer us a great family friendly activity to be enjoyed and remembered.
Will our kids enjoy the experience? If they’re anything like our daughters who enjoy challenges and solving puzzles? They’ll absolutely love the hour experience (some 15mins walk from Pile Gate) It’s a truly challenging yet fun activity that gives a good balance to any trip to Dubrovnik. For us, it has complemented a trip to a city that usually ends ups being full of bus tours and museums. It’s the perfect ‘hands on’ entertainment although tomorrow’s kayaking promises to be equally active!
So without wishing to ruin the story for anyone who decides to visit after reading this blog post, here’s the storyline….. King’s Landing is under attack! You are the only ones who can find the hidden Wildfire & use it against the enemy fleet. You have 60 minutes to try to solve all the puzzles & save the Kingdom! Can you make it in time?
With the sun beating down on the shimmering waters of the Adriatic, we couldn’t resist heading back to the ‘Old Town’ and a chance to get our bearings before tomorrow’s kayaking visit with X Adventures….. Those crystal clear waters have to be seen to be believed… Libby loved spotting the huge fish at the bottom of the harbour, whilst Catherine and Lottie were happy to browse the side streets and shopping areas in the ‘Old Town’
Do we love Dubrovnik as much as we thought we did? Absolutely, this is at the very top of our ‘European City Experiences‘ and we can’t wait o spend the next 3 days here at the fantastic Camping Solitudo. For any family motorhomes visiting Dubrovnik, it’s a high quality ‘Camping Adriatic’ site just outside the main city area. (Only a short hop by the ‘Number 6’ Bus to the very gates of the Old Town)
