Asking the question – Sierra Nevada or The Pyrenees, which do we prefer the most?

So the conversation almost all day due to our change in scenery southwards….. ” Is the Sierra Nevada better than the Pyrenees…?????”

It’s a tough decision and depends on where you view the argument from…. on the one hand, the Pyrenees had a fantastic ski resort and amazing  cable car ride, the chalets were almost ‘swiss’ in their appearance and it has a wonderful alpine feel…

But on the other hand, the Sierra Nevada are hot (over 24 degrees today), but are snow covered at the very peak. Both mountain ranges are around 3200m so hold the same altitude… The Sierra Nevada has far more villages that balance precariously along its cliffs and yet has the feeling of a community area with a real identity… The hairpin bends are vertigo inducing and the drops exceed 1000ft at times…

So it’s a difficult call, and one that has split our motorhome… on balance, i think we have preferred the wonderfully white washed villages of Andalusia…

And as for the sunset….. well it certainly matched the Alhambra as did the tapas at the campsite…. 20 euros for food for four and numerous drinks… we have been well fed and watered tonight!!
