With time to spare we've headed northwards towards North Yorkshire and Northumberland on the NE coast to grab some time on our second favourite coastline in the UK (behind Holkham in Norfolk)
Leaving the North Yorkshire Moors over one of the prettiest drives we've taken across Europe... the stunning Blakey Ridge...we managed to get some of that infamous 'Yorkshire weather'... beautiful blue sky/sun one minute followed by a biting wind and dark inky thunder clouds.... this only adds to the bleakness of this landscape yet it's natural beauty opens up each time the sun shines across the heather laden moor (beautiful at this time of year in it's resplendent 'purple' flowering)
Arriving on the Northumberland coastline, we headed immediately for Bamburgh and onwards to Holy Island... a truly eye catching sight that requires you to time your visit perfectly.... Needing to cross the shallow waters of the mudflats.. you need to cross in low tide...just in case!!!
